By enlisting the services of Health by Design, this blue collar industry-based company has implemented the following workplace health initiatives to help achieve their outstanding results!

Program initiatives throughout the year included:

  • Monthly toolbox talks education topics.

  • Health risk appraisal survey (gaining information on behaviour health items including alcohol intake, physical activity, sleep, mental health and caffeine intake).

  • Heart health testing (total and HDL cholesterol, glucose, waist to hip ratio and blood pressure).

  • Injury prevention testing (posture assessment, hamstring flexibility testing, dynamic balance and ankle mobility).

  • One on one monthly coaching session with re-measurement of main risk area.

Overarching theme topics were:

  • Heart Health

  • Strategic Eating

  • Physical Capacity 4 Life

An average of 76% of employees participated in the program during the face to face coaching months period of January 2018 - November 2018.

The main goal of the program is to ensure that we are assisting employees to continually progress along a path of behaviour change; from being interactively engaged in the program to making behaviour changes relating to their main risks, then ultimately gaining measured risk change. Our end goal is to facilitate risk range change where employees move from high risk categories to medium or low risk. The diagram below details the ongoing risk change continuum from January 2018 until the end of November 2018.

What is behaviour change and why is it so important?

Behaviour change is the first step in achieving health and injury risk re-education. Behaviour change represents the number of the total workforce who have begun to implement positive actions and have changed behaviours in relation to their individual goal. This goal is always linked to the individuals main risk area. This is often (but not always) a measured change, which would set them on a path to a measured change in the future.

Currently 150 behaviour changes have been made across this total workforce.

76% of this workforce has made at least one positive change to their behaviour.

These results are a testament to the impact that a workplace health program can have at your workplace. These employees are now happier, healthier, safer and more productive.  Every health company has a few success stories - but very few have as many as us! While average engagement in workplace health programs ranges from 8% - 48%, Health by Design's average engagement is 85%.
